One – the GSM Palm Pre version hasn’t peeped out of the factory, yet (except the one in UK). Two – it’s got a very small application catalog for its mobile phone users.

For any gadget, tech specs, design, and all the ‘blah blah’ factors do a lot of publicity. But what does excessively more is just not these factors. Applications are the next big thing that attracts the users, and they bring the jail-bound features of the device to a very much explorable mightiness.

And everyone knows how Apple managed to pile up more than 100,000 applications for the iPhone – just another reason why some iPhone owners love their gizmo, and even Droid, which just broke out of the shell has somehow managed to count on more than 12,000 apps for its Android platform.

Do you see Palm even anywhere close to any of these? No. Because, Palm Web OS Development Tool, Palm Mojo SDK, is something quite new to application developers and does not seem to be interesting enough to draw the developer crowd.

Palm phones are different from the rest, because they feature Palm’s unique WebOS which is quite an isolated platform for application developers to venture in.

Palm Ares : Black Fate or Bright Future?

Palm, lately, took some pain to understand the need of the hour and has planned to introduce a Web-based development environment for WebOS applications, called Ares. It (Ares) was first demonstrated publicly at the Open Mobile Summit Conference in San Francisco, yesterday.

Palm Ares is Palm’s way of roping in more developers to build applications for both Palm Pre and Palm Pixi. Ares will allow developers to integrate various components in a drag-and-drop fashion using JavaScript to build applications easily.

Palm’s new WebOS development tool, Ares, should do some good to the snail-slow growth of its application catalog. There is a word in the air that Palm Ares SDK, which was reportedly released to a select group way back in April and later publically announced in July, has been downloaded innumerous times since then.

The Palm Ares SDK (software development kit) will not require the developers to make any configurations or downloads to develop the applications. Instead, environment will include debugging tools and mechanism for developers to share libraries and APIs.

Within the phone emulator in Ares, developers can see what the application will look like in both portrait and landscape view. When the application is finished, the developer can package it up, download it to a phone to try it out, share it with friends or submit it to Palm’s application catalog.

Now that seems like Palm is getting firm on its feet to make a good business with everything that should contribute to keep it going. Palm Ares SDK should be working fine on Firefox and Safari and the full version release is slated to go on air later this year.

When it does, we are eager to see the applications count multiply in thousands. Meanwhile, we’ll think over if Apple iPhone is the chosen one that deserves the crown for owning largest application catalog or is it somebody else (in your dearest vicinity)?

One of the other less known philosophies is “Focus on the user and all else will follow”, while all the innovation gives Google the edge over its competitors this philosophy is what helps the company maintain that edge.

Reacting to users feedback not only keeps the existing users happy and brings more users to the product but these little tweaks add unprecedented value to the product over others.

Adsense recently announced the new and better version of the application that is just around the corner. A limited number of publishers got access to the new dashboard at Content Revenue Strategies conference in New York, yesterday.

The new Adsense interface has more Analytics look to it. The new interface is designed to offer more insights into the trends and let the webmasters know what’s working and what isn’t. The enhanced version lets publishers manage and modify several ad units simultaneously.

Following image from the Adsense blog gives you a good sense of how Adsense is about to change.

This interface is available to limited publishers and will be open to all in the coming weeks. I am certainly looking forward to it.

If things were not to settle for anything less, even the mobile version of the Opera 10 should reflect the same caliber.

The wizards at Opera Labs have just released the Opera Mobile 10 beta and seem to have put it some really good effort to win our appreciation. We say this, because? Oh, sparing a glance at its features will not burn your toast and this is the answer. Here we go.

Opera Mobile 10 is the fastest ever Opera web browser (Page downloading is now 50% faster than the previous version of Opera for Symbian/S60 phones) and quickly swigs downloads from the web, allows zooming, panning and promises the best combination of our desktop and mobile browsers making it intuitive.

Opera Mobile 10 brings the comfort of the desktop version to your mobile with the new refined user interface. It has a speed dial feature, which can be used to set your favorite websites at the home screen and the tabbed browsing feature lets you open multiple pages without closing the window.

Featured : Opera Mobile 10

Furthermore, Opera Mobile 10 is designed for both touchscreen and keypad-type mobile phones and also packs in a password manager to save passwords to most visited sites.

Opera Presto, the Opera web engine, makes sure you don’t regret using opera on the mobile by wiping off most of the dissimilarities between the desktop and mobile Opera versions.

How could we just forget email and social networking sites? Opera Mobile 10 lets you browse AJAX-heavy sites such as Facebook and Gmail, and enjoy the rich interaction of modern Web applications with ease.

It’s presently available for Symbian S60 mobile phones. And the most important thing, you’ll love to read is, it’s free. Click here to free download opera mobile 10.

It’s Super Talent’s USB 3.0 drive which drew my attention for quite a little time and why not, it’s got some pure reputation of its own. After all, they call it World’s first USB 3.0 RAIDdrive / Thumbdrive.

Super Talent, which has been providing top class flash storage solutions, yesterday, became the world’s first organization to come up with a USB 3.0 flash drive.

Okay, the concept was already in our heads, agreed. But then, did anybody else make that announcement, official? Super Talent was wise enough to grab this chance and exercise its name in the pages of history.

Super Talent USB 3.0 flash drive is a SuperSpeed, USB 3.0 RAID Drive that allows transfer speeds up to ten times faster than USB 2.0 drives. If you are wondering that it will support the long-lived USB 2.0 ports or even USB 1.1 ports on your computer, the answer is YES.

Featured : Super Talent’s USB 3.0 Flashdrive

The backward compatibility feature of this USB 3.0 flash drive makes this possible but everything comes at a cost. Using the USB 3.0 flash drive on a USB 2.0 port will only decrease the efficiency of the flash drive, temporarily.

Otherwise, when using a USB 3.0 port with UAS protocol, the data transfer speed can shoot up as high as 320Mbps and if a stock USB 3.0 socket is used, speeds up to 200Mbps can be achieved. A LED indicator inscribed on the drive, tells you if it’s busy reading the data and if the device is powered on.

This USB 3.0 flash drive will soon be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB variants and is fully compatible with Windows 7. Price and release date are still undercover. Maybe, they are waiting until the USB 3.0 motherboards crack the shell.

Well, you can read more on it here or choose to shoot some snow flakes hiding behind the Christmas trees until it actually hits the stores.

It’s the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 which is bundled with a bunch of interesting features and the exclusive Rachael Android UI to take your breath away, even if you forget that it comes with the most-talked-about Android OS.

It is designed to look sleek, curvy and beautifully arrests your attention at first sight. The face of the phone is sprawled by the beautiful 4-inch touch screen display almost to the end, where, presumably buttons for home screen, back and menu take over the screen’s stretch.

On its side is a pair of volume controllers and an audio jack at the top beside a set of standard buttons. A powerful 8.1 MP camera (the most powerful camera on an Android phone, yet) with a 16x digital zoom, auto focus, face recognition and geotagging features is flanked by a powerful dual LED flash.

The camera adds beauty to the back of the phones should be everything of goodness to earn your smile after each bright and lovable shot you click. Wonder, why Sony Ericsson does not entail Cybershot to its name.

Featured: Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 in White

It is consecrated with a powerful 1GHz Shapdragon Qualcomm processor (yes, quite the same one that people worshipped in Toshiba TG01, Acer Liquid and HTC HD2) flanked by 256MB RAM and supports microSD card for up to 16GB storage space, if you wish to upgrade from the 8GB card that’s already bundled with the box.

The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support will have a way with all the wireless connectivity you need while the mini USB port has been structured into the phone to allow you to share your favorite files with your computer and data transfer.

The preloaded Timescape application on the Xperia X10 ropes in Facebook, Twitter, emails, texts and more while Mediascape integrates music and suggests tracks from PlayNow besides organizing photos and videos for better user experience. Thanks, to the Sony Ericsson’s revolutionary UX interface.

Posterior View : Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (black)

Well, if Andriod is supposed to be a talisman for Motorola, for Motorola Droid, then why should Sony Ericsson be an exception? We suppose not. Well, rubbing hands in anticipation would not be that bad if it is supposed to hit the streets in Q1 2010 in black and white skins.

What Price? Good question, but the official confirmations for the same are yet to surface, meanwhile you can pump in a few more details of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 from here.

And yes, should you hesitate to think, this Android phone will be eligible for the newest Android OS upgrade, the Android Éclair 2.0. Oh, that’s just another reason to shower an applaud to the newest member in the Android phones family.

The gadget lets you perform all the regular twitter specific activities you would otherwise perform on Twitter in a browser.

However there are a few things it does not let you do which makes this product less desirable among other thing. For example, you cannot have more than one Twitter accounts activated at a time, TwitterPeek does not come with a built-in browser which means all the browser related activities are not possible, etc..

I really fail to understand the gap this gadget is trying to fill or the issue it is trying to address. Twitter app is available for every smartphone and these apps do much more than what TwitterPeek offers. Even if someone who does not have a SmartPhone, with the dropping smartphone prices and service plans I think they are better off buying a smartphone than a gadget that does just one thing.

TwitterPeek sells for $99.99 with 6 months of free service after which users pay about $8 pm to use TwitterPeek or buy it for $199.99 for a lifetime free service.

A closer look at TwitterPeek

That said, I think the company has not invested much in innovating something new because I don’t see any difference between Pronto, Classic or TwitterPeek (hardware wise). So all that is different is an application otherwise everything else remains the same.

From that point of view, it’s a smart move to sell more gadgets by trying to capture the smartphone-less twitterholic audience.

The gadget is exclusively available on Amazon. Click here to buy TwitterPeek for $99.99 and here for $199.99.

Related links, the name is pretty self-explanatory. It’s a widget that shows all the related links/articles/content that’s published on a particular domain.

WordPress and other CMS package plugins have been offering this plugin since ages now. The only difference is that Googles gadget as expected queries Google search instead of quering the blogs database.

This tools is not available publically yet its only available for invited users. You can send an e-mail to relatedlinks@google.com with the following information to get an invite.

Domain URL:

Invite e-mail address:

Page Views Per Day:

The management area of the tool lets you black list URLs, Filter prefixes and suffixes, etc. Following image shows what the widget looks like..

Notice the link “Document Search” which is a tag URL. One feature that’s missing is that it does not let you blacklist wildcards but it lets you filter a specific URL only. Blacklisting is not that helpful if you have about 2k tags.

Script Converter lets you convert the language script of any English site to one of the 9 Indian languages or the other way round.

9 Indian languages include Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali and Tamil.

The following image shows Tnerd converted to Tamil. For some reason all the ads on the site are converted to Chinese script.

Click here to try Related Links and here to Script Converter.

Imagine running a complete Windows XP OS on a mobile phone? Sounds like we are talking about a table PC, right? Okay, the XP Phone is quite the same, more portable and sleek, and a lot more interesting too.

ITG (In Technology Group), a Chinese firm has just teased the world’s first xp phone on its website. A pocket computer in the disguise of a mobile, the XP Phone does all that you would expect a portable computer to do. It’s just like shrinking the PC into a mobile only for the comfort of portability.

Technically, the XP Phone features a 4.8” slide-out TFT Touch-screen LCD with gravity sensor (i.e. accelerometer), a full QWERTY keyboard and a 1.3 MP camera and also supports five input strokes.

Because, it is blessed with Windows XP versatility, it allows you to indulge in chat with your friends over yahoo messenger, windows messenger, a free msn video chat or you can even make skype calls.

Get weather updates or stock alerts, browse the web or download a ton of music and videos, do everything you can, with the new revolution called XP phone. The XP Phone sports each of earphone and microphone jacks and also has a docking connector to charge its removable Li-On battery.

The battery life is just about 7hours on standard pack, which would seem completely one strong reason to negotiate the smartness of the phone, but then, remember, it is not just another phone, it’s XP Phone gifted with full Windows XP OS.

What drives this mobile computer? A powerful ‘AMD Super Mobile CPU’ flanked by 512/1GB RAM and storage space of 8GB to 120GB via SSD/HDD to store seamless music, countless videos and innumerous documents. And let us not forget to praise its soul, the universally popular windows OS, Windows XP.

When we say that, you are liberty to think of the enormous number of applications you can install on it and make it a versatile smart phone-PC machine.

It is supposed to support both GSM and CDMA networks including Vodafone, AT&T and Orange and will have connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth an d stand alone GPS.

ITG has not revealed anything on its pricing and availability, yet. But when ever it is launched, we are sure, it’s going to make fireworks in the markets. That’s one reason, why we are reason rubbing hands in anticipation!

Well, if they call it world’s first breakthrough (with XP OS on a phone), we would not detest, for they have every reason to, and that forces us to cascade a few words of honest appreciation.
