These devices include Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, Neo V, Xperia Play, Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and Xperia Live among many others. The updates are set to roll out in late March or early April next year.

• It starts with public push when we as a manufacturer get access to the new Android release from Google
• Our developers take the existing Xperia™ software and combine it with the new Android release
• Once the coding is done we want to make sure the quality of the new software meets our, our partners and your expectations
• Now we feel the new software is ready but we also need to make sure it’s approved by our external partners
• All good. We’re all set to roll-out the new software. The story continues in your Xperia™ smartphone

Since there are a variety of Xperia phones in the market, the update will be rolled out in installments. You will be notified of the availability of the update when it’s ready for prime time consumption.

As Sony Ericsson explains:

“With the holiday season around the corner, we’re happy to confirm that the first 2011 Xperia™ smartphones will be upgraded to Android 4.0 starting from end March/early April 2012. The first smartphones to get the upgrade are Xperia™ arc S, Xperia™ neo V and Xperia™ ray. Soon after, starting from end April/early May, Xperia™ arc, Xperia™ PLAY, Xperia™ neo, Xperia™ mini and mini pro, Xperia™ pro, Xperia™ active as well as Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman™ will get their upgrades. ”

The video shows the evolution of the Television in the last 60 years, of course not technically but it conveys the meaning. From bulky boxes with cathode ray tubes to super sleek TVs with internet connectivity, TVs have come this far.

And evolution with time still continues. Samsung has been pretty good in the TV industry, particularly with the Smart TVs that sport internet connectivity and access to some of the most widely used apps and services.

What’s coming next from Samsung is “the future of Smart TVs” which leaves us a little too excited to assert anything at this moment. But, if we were to speculate a possibility, it wouldn’t be impractical to see a full-fledged Android-based TV from Samsung at this CES.

Samsung has been playing smart in the smartphone industry, and it’s closest outperforming competitor Apple is expected to release a Siri-enabled iOS TV that does not rely on an external set top box. And it’s highly expected to be a winner out of the shell.

Samsung will be presenting the “Future of Smart TV, Now” at this year’s 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. This video looks back at the many changes TVs and their owners have undergone over the past decades. Even though it hints at what’s happening next, you’ll have to wait until this year’s CES to see what the future of Samsung Televisions really has in store.

Samsung may have similar plans minus the Siri-like technology unless Google officially announced the voice-based assistant codenamed ‘Majel’ that it’s secretly working on at Google X labs. We could possibly see a Samsung Android TV with plenty of smart features, and ability to control it with any Android device by your sleeve.

The latest build of the Dropbox Android app enables users to bulk upload files to their Dropbox account, access any file or folder in Dropbox with a single tap, rename files in their Dropbox and even make files available for offline access.

All this from the comfort of their Android devices, on the go. Alongside this, Dropbox also announced that it’s giving away 500MB of free online storage space to students on every student they invite to join Dropbox. Well, that’s double the fun!

As a refresher, Dropbox is a service that allows users to store their files in the cloud (online) and access it on the go — from anywhere in the world. Registration is free and upon signup, user is presented with a complimentary 2GB of storage space. Additional storage of up to 100GB max can be availed through purchase.

Users can also get up to 250MB of free space for every user they invite to dropbox and the process can be repeated for up to 8GB of storage. In the latest announcement, students will be given double this storage for free for every student they invite to dropbox.

Some of these were also published online (see screenshot after the break). The affected portals are gaming websites including hacking178.com, 7K7k, Duowan, etc. This also included an attack on the CSDN attack where user names and passwords of more than 6 million programmers were hacked.

7K7K lost as many as 20 million user details while 178.com is claimed to have lost 10 million accounts and even some social networking sites like Renren have reportedly been affected by the attack.

Multiple popular online sources have published about this gigantic attack but (as of this writing), the aforementioned sources haven’t released any official statement in this regard.

As our source reports:

“Actually, aside from the CDSN hack, none of the other hacks have been officially confirmed yet; however, much of the stolen account information has been published online (see, for example, the image of Duowan usernames and passwords above), so the reports appear to be fairly accurate.”

Hacking user credentials and publishing them online is much of a trend revival these days. Recently, we have seen Sony’s SOE and PSN network go down due to similar attempts, and now this Chinese incident has come to light.

Picture in focus: Archos 70b Internet Tablet. It’s the company’s first Android Honeycomb-based tablet and it’s available for an incredibly low price of $199.99 — just on par with Amazon’s blazing hot Kindle Fire.

But, the two have their differences which stretch much beyond the cosmetic appearance. The Archos 70b Android tablet is faster and powerful than Kindle Fire. In contrast, it has more features than the Fire, yet it will be selling for just about the price of the latter : $199.

Scheduled for a January release next year, the Archos 70b features a 7” display with capacitive multi-touch support, the tablet-optimized Android Honeycomb 3.2 OS, access to thousands of apps from Android Market unlike the Fire, and much more.

Racing Racing 2 app for Android is just as good as its iOS counterpart. There’s everything in the game that you would love from high-performance cars, about 15 racing tracks and of course a Career mode to keep your long term gaming pleasures alive.
